The visit, according to a statement by Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, was aimed at boosting troop morale and assessing the current security situation in the North East. Lieutenant General Shaibu acknowledged recent challenges, including attacks on troop locations, but assured that the Army remains resolute and undeterred in discharging its constitutional responsibilities.

He explained that the Nigerian Army is reviewing and adjusting its operational strategies to effectively tackle emerging threats and sustain gains recorded in various theatres of operation. The Army Chief stressed that despite the evolving nature of insecurity across the country, troops would continue to confront terrorism decisively.

Lieutenant General Shaibu also called on state governments to strengthen support for troops engaged in frontline operations, noting that collaboration remains key to achieving lasting peace. He commended the government and people of Yobe State for their continued support to security agencies.

Governor Zulum pledged to develop additional strategies to support security agencies in addressing evolving threats.

The COAS also addressed troops at the sector headquarters, urging them to remain aggressive and committed in the fight against terrorism in honour of their fallen colleagues and in pursuit of lasting peace and security.

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, who represented Governor Buni, commended the Nigerian Army for its resilience and critical role in restoring peace to troubled areas. He also offered prayers for fallen soldiers who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation.
