Operation HADIN KAI Records Tactical Victory, Suffers Officer, Six Personnel Loss

Troops of Sector 3 under the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have repelled an isolated terrorist attack on their position at Charlie 13 in Monguno, Borno State.

The attack, which occurred late on 12 April 2026, saw insurgents attempt to infiltrate the military location. However, following a fierce exchange of gunfire, the troops successfully forced the attackers to retreat, maintaining full control of the area.

In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the operation recorded a significant loss during a follow-up assessment of the incident.

According to the statement, the Commanding Officer, while advancing to the troops’ location to personally assess the situation after the attack had been repelled, triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The explosion destroyed his vehicle and resulted in his death, alongside six other military personnel.

The late officer was described as a courageous and selfless leader whose actions exemplified the highest standards of military professionalism. His decision to move to the frontline, despite the risks, underscored his commitment to the safety, morale, and operational effectiveness of his troops.

Operation HADIN KAI expressed deep sorrow over the loss, noting that the fallen officer and his men paid the ultimate price in service to the nation. The operation assured that their sacrifice would remain a lasting symbol of bravery and dedication within the Armed Forces and across the country.
