The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its counter-terrorism operations in Borno State, executing precision follow-up air strikes on terrorist hideouts in the Jilli axis as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate insurgent threats in the North-East.
The air strikes, carried out on April 11, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, were described as mop-up operations targeting fleeing terrorists and regrouping cells after an earlier successful engagement that destroyed key enemy positions in the area. The mission was conducted in close coordination with the Nigerian Army under a joint air-ground operational strategy.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strikes were based on credible intelligence gathered through collaboration with relevant stakeholders and validated by the appropriate operational command.
The NAF noted that the operation forms part of intensified efforts to track and neutralise terrorist elements responsible for recent attacks on security personnel, particularly those attempting to exploit difficult terrain to evade capture.
The successful strikes underscore the increasing effectiveness of intelligence-driven joint force operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement, preventing further attacks on both military positions and civilian communities, and consolidating gains achieved in the theatre.
The Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustained surveillance, precision strikes, and rapid response missions in support of national security objectives, assuring citizens of its determination to restore lasting peace and stability across Borno State and the wider North-East region.
