President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the Renewed Hope Ambassador ahead of the national launch of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Governor Uzodimma will also serve as the Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation.
With the appointment, which takes immediate effect, Governor Uzodimma will work closely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and APC governors to drive nationwide awareness and support for the Tinubu administration’s programmes.
As Renewed Hope Ambassador and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Governor Uzodimma is expected to promote harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination across all levels of the party. His role will also include grassroots mobilisation and public engagement.
He will collaborate with other APC governors, who will similarly serve as Ambassadors of Hope.
President Tinubu charged Governor Uzodimma and his colleagues to consistently promote and disseminate the achievements and milestones recorded since the administration took office in May 2023, reinforcing the message of Renewed Hope across the country.
The President highlighted ongoing reforms that, according to him, are already delivering positive outcomes for the economy. He noted that inflation has eased for seven consecutive months to 16.05 per cent as of October, the exchange rate has stabilised, and foreign reserves have risen to over $46 billion—up from the $32 billion and a net reserve of $4 billion inherited in 2023.
He added that investor confidence has improved, with rising foreign direct and portfolio investments, particularly in the oil and gas sector. The stock market is experiencing unprecedented growth, and economic diversification efforts are advancing with solid minerals taking centre stage.
The President also cited improvements in public services, including the enrolment of over 700,000 students under the liberalised student loan programme and a significantly reduced timeline for obtaining international passports, now processed within one week.
In his message to the new Renewed Hope Ambassador, President Tinubu tasked Governor Uzodimma with ensuring Nigerians are fully informed about the administration’s accomplishments and reforms.
