The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has achieved another decisive victory in the fight against banditry, neutralizing several high-profile terrorist kingpins and scores of their fighters in Zamfara State. The operation, conducted on 10 August 2025 under Operation FASAN YAMMA, targeted Makakkari Forest—a notorious hideout for armed bandits.

According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the success followed actionable Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) reports which confirmed the movement of over 400 armed bandits preparing to attack a farming community.

In a coordinated offensive, precision airstrikes were launched on the enemy formations, followed by a ground assault that overwhelmed the surviving fighters. The combined effort not only eliminated multiple notorious kingpins but also destroyed the operational capacity of their network.

Air Commodore Ejodame described the synergy between air and land forces as “exceptional,” noting that the strike had significantly disrupted planned attacks in the region and reinforced the NAF’s commitment to safeguarding rural communities.
