In a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have eliminated three notorious terrorist kingpins in a well-coordinated ambush operation in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Captain David Adewus, the successful ambush was executed between Mallamawa and Mazau villages in the Tsamaye and Mai Lalle District. During the operation, troops neutralized high-profile terrorists identified as Kachalla Nagomma, Gurmu, and Ali Yar Daribiyar.
The troops also recovered three AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines and a motorcycle used by the criminals.The kingpins and their foot soldiers were reportedly in the area to extort locals through ransom collection and illegal levies when they were intercepted by the vigilant troops.
The news of their elimination has sparked widespread relief and celebrations in Mai Lalle, Tsamaye, Rimaye, and neighboring communities across Sabon Birni and Goronyo LGAs areas that have long suffered under the terror of the slain criminals.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA continues to reaffirm its unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability across the North West and parts of the North Central region.
The Joint Task Force also appealed to the public for continued support through timely and credible intelligence to sustain the momentum in the fight against terrorism.
