In a bold and successful operation, gallant troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), on 22nd July 2025, intercepted and neutralized a large number of terrorists attempting to infiltrate Ragada and Warari communities in Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State from the Baban Doka axis in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to a statement released by the Media Information Officer of OPFY, Captain David Adewusi, the terrorists were decisively engaged near Inana Village following a swift and well-coordinated joint assault by troops from the Mariga and Zuru axes.
Backed by precision airstrikes and real-time intelligence from the Air Component of OPFY, the ground forces overwhelmed the insurgents in a fierce gun duel that ended in victory for the security forces.
The operation resulted in the elimination of several terrorists and the recovery of critical assets including two AK-47 rifles, a magazine containing five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 18 motorcycles, communication gadgets, and other logistics intended for their operations.
The assault also foiled the terrorists’ plans to wreak havoc and rustle livestock in the region, further demonstrating the effectiveness of OPFY’s joint security architecture. Unfortunately, the operation came at a cost, as one brave soldier paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA has reaffirmed its unshakable commitment to restoring peace and security across the North West and parts of North Central Nigeria. The task force calls on members of the public to support its mission by providing timely and credible information to enhance ongoing offensive operations.
