Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with local vigilante groups, have foiled a major terrorist logistics movement and neutralised 17 suspected insurgents during a coordinated long-range ambush operation.
The operation, which was intelligence-driven, took place in the early hours of 21 December 2025, following credible information on the planned movement of logistics supplies by suspected Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, tactically deployed on the night of 20 December to a designated interception point between Sojiri and Kayamla villages.
In the early hours of 21 December, the suspected terrorists arrived at the location, moving on bicycles and conveying various logistics materials, thereby confirming prior intelligence reports. Troops, positioned in concealed and well-coordinated formations, launched a decisive engagement against the insurgents.
During the exchange of fire, 17 suspected terrorists were neutralised, while several others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds. Items recovered at the scene included multiple bicycles, assorted food items, drugs and medical supplies, detergents, clothing materials (yardage), bicycle tyres, torchlights, other sundry logistics materials, as well as assorted weapons of different calibres with ammunition.
Following the successful execution of the mission, the ambush team safely withdrew to its base. Exploitation and follow-up operations are currently ongoing to further dominate the area and deny insurgents freedom of movement.
The statement noted that troop morale remains high, with fighting efficiency assessed as strong and unwavering. The successful operation, it added, highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led and joint security operations in degrading terrorist networks and disrupting their logistics and sustainment capabilities.
The Military High Command has commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, urging them to sustain the current operational tempo in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the North East.
