Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have sustained momentum in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign, achieving significant successes under Operation Desert Sanity IV between 19 and 24 September 2025 in Borno and Adamawa States.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said the operations yielded major breakthroughs in disrupting terrorist logistics and neutralising threats across multiple locations.
Key achievements include the interception of 21 jerricans of smuggled fuel in different parts of Mubi, Adamawa State; recovery of large quantities of urea fertilizer from Mubi Central Market; neutralisation of a terrorist in an ambush near Alau Dam, Borno; and the arrest of two suspects — a 54-year-old logistics supplier and a 31-year-old Boko Haram fighter.
On 19 September, troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical) and Sector 4 Special Forces seized 7 jerricans of smuggled Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at Vintim, Mubi South. On 21 September, 9 jerricans of PMS were intercepted along Fillin Ball–Gella Road in Mubi South, while on 24 September another 5 jerricans were seized at Tsamiya, Mubi North. Troops also uncovered quantities of urea fertilizer in the Mubi Central Market on 21 and 24 September, forcing suspected suppliers to flee and abandon the products. According to the military, these consistent interceptions have significantly disrupted terrorist logistics and the supply chain for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
On 22 September, troops of 73 Battalion (Motorised), in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Hybrid Forces, ambushed terrorists at Kolori Karumi, west of Alau Dam in Borno State. At about 10:15 p.m., contact was established and one Boko Haram scout was neutralised.
Similarly, on 23 September, troops of 112 Task Force Battalion at Forward Operating Base Ngwom arrested a 54-year-old suspect, Thomas James, with 23 bottles of PMS concealed in a bag. He was attempting to travel to Gamboru Ngala from Maiduguri. Preliminary investigations revealed his involvement in terrorist fuel supply networks, and he has since been handed over to the 7 Military Intelligence Brigade for further investigation.
Furthermore, on 24 September, acting on credible intelligence, troops of 232 Battalion working with local hunters arrested a 31-year-old Boko Haram fighter, Ahmadu Buba, in Garkida, Gombi LGA. The suspect, from Sabon Gari Kimba in Damboa, confessed to joining Boko Haram in April 2025 and admitted to participating in attacks at Mandaragirau Sabon Gari Kimba in August and in the destruction of Mandahuma Bridge in June.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them to sustain the aggressive posture and operational tempo until insurgency is completely defeated.
