The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has urged troops of 29 Task Force Brigade to shun complacency and maintain an aggressive posture against terrorists across their areas of operation.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Theatre Commander gave the charge during an operational assessment visit to 154 Task Force Battalion at Ngamdu, 156 Task Force Battalion at Mainok, 273 Task Force Battalion at Jakana, and 29 Task Force Brigade at Benisheikh.
The visit, he explained, was aimed at evaluating the judicious use of the Chief of Army Staff’s intervention, reviewing ongoing operations, assessing combat readiness, and ensuring optimal utilization of platforms and equipment deployed in the theatre.
Commending the troops for their gallantry, Major General Abubakar urged them to remain vigilant, resilient, and aggressive in countering terrorist threats and other criminal activities. He further stressed the importance of close supervision, effective coordination, and the prioritization of troops’ welfare, particularly in the area of feeding.
The Theatre Commander also held a frank interaction with the troops, during which they highlighted some administrative challenges. He assured them that most of the issues would be addressed immediately, while others would be escalated to the military high command.
During the visit, the Commander 29 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, together with Commanding Officers of the units visited, briefed the Theatre Commander on measures adopted to dominate the area and deny terrorists freedom of action.
The field commanders reaffirmed their determination to sustain the operational tempo and ensure the protection of lives and property within their Areas of Responsibility.
Also in attendance during the visit were formation commanders, senior staff officers from Theatre Headquarters, and the Commander Sector 2, Brigadier General Beyidi Martins.
