TROOPS RESCUE TARABA VARSITY LECTURER IN DARING OPERATION

In a daring rescue operation marked by precision and tactical brilliance, troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army (NA)/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have successfully rescued Engineer Joshua Saleh, a lecturer at Taraba State University, from the clutches of suspected kidnappers.

Engineer Saleh was abducted on 31 July 2025 along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari road in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Acting on credible and actionable intelligence, the security team launched a well-coordinated search and rescue operation targeting criminal hideouts across Kente, Sondi 1 and 2, Yaku, and the Warawa general area.

In a statement by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the troops encountered armed resistance during the mission, engaging the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle. Overpowered by the superior firepower and relentless pressure from the joint team, the abductors fled in disarray, abandoning their victim.

Engineer Saleh was found unharmed and immediately secured to safety.Commander of 6 Brigade NA and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, applauded the gallantry and swift response of the troops, praising their professionalism and seamless coordination with DSS operatives.

He described the operation as a clear demonstration of the Nigerian Army’s resolve to stamp out criminality and ensure the safety of citizens in Taraba State.

Brigadier General Uwa reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region and called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperative by providing timely, actionable intelligence to security agencies.

“This success sends a strong message to all criminal elements that there is no hiding place for those who threaten the peace of our communities,” he said.
