The Headquarters, Theatre Command, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, has expressed concern over recent social media publications alleging poor feeding arrangements for troops deployed in the North East Theatre of Operations. The Command says the reports are misleading and do not reflect the true welfare and logistical realities within the Theatre.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Command explained that a thorough internal review was conducted in line with established military procedures.
It clarified that personnel across all formations are provided with rations strictly in accordance with approved military feeding scales, with additional welfare enhancements occasionally introduced during festive periods such as Sallah and Easter to boost morale.
The Theatre further noted that its feeding system is structured, accountable, and soldier-driven, managed through established Food Committees comprising personnel across different ranks and supervised by senior non-commissioned officers.
According to the Command, this arrangement ensures transparency in menu planning, preparation, and distribution of meals within available logistical resources in the challenging operational environment of the North East.
During the review, the Command identified a case involving a personnel who allegedly circulated a misleading image of a partially consumed meal to create a false impression of troop feeding conditions. Investigations reportedly confirmed that the image did not represent the full ration issued. The matter, it added, was handled through appropriate disciplinary procedures in accordance with the Armed Forces Act (Cap A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004).
Reassuring the public, the Theatre Command reaffirmed that the welfare of troops remains a top priority despite the demanding operational environment. It encouraged personnel to make use of internal grievance mechanisms rather than actions capable of misrepresenting realities or undermining morale and cohesion.
The Command also urged the public to disregard unverified social media content, stressing that Operation HADIN KAI remains fully committed to restoring lasting peace, security, and economic stability in the North East region.
