Troops Neutralise Five Terrorists, Rescue Kidnapped Civilians in Borno Offensive

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded another operational success after a coordinated offensive against terrorist elements in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in the rescue of kidnapped civilians.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of 4 January 2026, following actionable intelligence. According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops working in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) engaged the terrorists at a known crossing point along the Sojiri axis.During the encounter, five terrorists were neutralised without any casualty to the troops, highlighting the professionalism and combat effectiveness of the security forces. Three civilians who had been abducted by the terrorists were successfully rescued during the operation.

Items recovered from the scene included AK-47 rifles and other sundry materials suspected to belong to the terrorists.

The statement noted that the successful operation underscores OPHK’s sustained commitment to aggressive, intelligence-driven offensive actions against terrorist groups, while prioritising the safety and protection of civilians. It also emphasised the importance of effective collaboration with local security stakeholders in degrading terrorist capabilities.

Troops’ morale remains high, and security forces continue to dominate the operational environment across the North-East theatre despite evolving security challenges. Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its resolve to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace and stability in the region.
