The Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade and Land Component Commander Operation UDOKA, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mu’azu Abbas, has charged newly promoted soldiers of the Brigade to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Nigerian Army, noting that their elevation reflects the welfare-driven mandate of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

According to a statement by the Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 34 Artillery Brigade, Major Hashimu Sa’ad Abdullahi, the Commander gave the charge on Monday, 24 November 2025, during the decoration ceremony for newly promoted soldiers at the Brigade Parade Ground in Owerri.

Brigadier General Abbas congratulated the beneficiaries and reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army under the COAS remains committed to rewarding hard work, discipline, and professionalism. He reminded the troops that their new ranks come with higher expectations, saying: “Your promotion today is part of the COAS’ mandate to strengthen our operational readiness — I expect you to justify this confidence.”

He noted that the elevation of about 315 personnel across units within the Brigade underscores the Army’s commitment to enhancing the operational capability of 34 Artillery Brigade, particularly in ongoing operations under Operation UDOKA. He urged the newly decorated soldiers to remain focused, loyal, and diligent in discharging their duties.

The Commander further charged the troops to intensify their efforts in support of the 82 Division’s drive to sustain peace and security across the South-East, emphasizing that their new ranks should inspire greater discipline and operational efficiency.

The event also featured remarks from senior officers, including the Chief of Staff, Colonel S.M. Ahmed; the Garrison Commander, Lieutenant Colonel J. Abuo; the Commanding Officer 342 Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel B.B. Laah; and the Brigade RSM, Master Warrant Officer Malam Garba. The ceremony ended with the decoration of the newly promoted soldiers by senior officers and family members, followed by a group photograph.
