Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), the Joint Task Force North East, have recorded another series of operational successes between October 25 and 31, 2025, by thwarting multiple terrorist attacks, neutralizing threats, and consolidating control over key locations in Borno and Adamawa States.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the coordinated operations disrupted terrorist activities that included attempted suicide bombings, ambushes, and smuggling operations, as well as efforts to infiltrate civilian communities.

On October 25, vigilant troops foiled an attempted attack on Kukawa Town involving a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED). The troops promptly engaged the VBIED with RPG fire, which initially deflected off its armored body, before a T-55 tank successfully neutralized the vehicle. The quick response prevented a potential disaster. Although a 10-year-old girl sustained minor injuries, she was immediately treated and is in stable condition.

In the Dikwa–Ajiri axis, troops working closely with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) detected and safely neutralized three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strategically planted along major supply routes, averting what could have been significant sabotage.

Similarly, on October 29, troops of 192 Battalion (Main), in collaboration with CJTF members, launched a successful ambush against terrorists operating around the Mandara Mountains. Two insurgents were neutralized, while others fled the scene. Recovered items revealed the insurgents’ continued reliance on bicycles and basic food supplies to sustain their operations.

In another daring night ambush on October 30, troops of 202 Battalion in conjunction with ten members of the Volunteer Force, intercepted terrorists attempting to cross from the Gezuwa axis towards Sambisa Forest along the Bama–Konduga Main Supply Route. The joint team opened fire on the insurgents, forcing them to retreat in disarray.

Meanwhile, under Operation Strangulation, troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical) intercepted one drum of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and two motorcycles used for illegal smuggling at Fillin Ball and Sebore in Mubi South Local Government Area, Adamawa State. The smugglers abandoned the items and fled upon sighting the troops. The confiscated materials are currently in custody for further investigation.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops of 144 Battalion and Sector 4 Special Forces, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and local hunters, conducted a cordon and search operation on October 30 at Sabon Gari village, Madagali Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of five suspects: Musa Mohammed (38), Gambo Musa (17), Mallam Mohammed (17), Abu Danjuma (27), and Umar Banna (26).

Items recovered during the operation included a pair of desert camouflage uniform, one round of 7.62mm x 54mm ammunition, and 50 wraps of Indian hemp discovered in an abandoned hut. Preliminary investigations are ongoing.

The Air Component Command of Operation HADIN KAI also played a critical role, providing precision air strikes, close air support, and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations that enabled ground troops to engage and neutralize several terrorists, recover weapons, and destroy key logistics bases.

A follow-up exploitation conducted in the early hours of October 31 within a 3-kilometre radius towards Sambisa Forest led to the recovery of one terrorist’s corpse, one AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 90 rounds of 7.62mm x 54mm linked ammunition, and four bicycles. No casualties were recorded on the part of own troops.

The Military High Command has commended the troops for their gallantry, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to restoring lasting peace in the North East. It further reaffirmed that the Nigerian Armed Forces remain resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism, dismantle insurgent networks, and safeguard all communities within the region.
