Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have scored a major operational success with the arrest of a notorious suspected terrorist in Taraba State.

In a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the arrest was made on 18 September 2025 after credible intelligence revealed the suspect’s movements. Acting swiftly, the troops intercepted the 35-year-old suspect, identified as Saawuan Wuaiyolna, at Takum Junction in Wukari Local Government Area while he was on a motorcycle.

Preliminary investigations uncovered that Wuaiyolna, who hails from Ateryange community in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, is a senior member of the criminal gang led by the wanted bandit leader, Akiki Utivi, widely known as “Full Fire.” He was reportedly deployed to Wukari to spy on troop activities and aid coordinated attacks against civilians.

This development is considered a major setback for the gang and a clear demonstration of Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA’s resolve to neutralize terrorist and bandit threats across Taraba and adjoining states.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their vigilance and gallantry. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to continue supporting security forces by sharing credible and timely information to aid ongoing operations.
