IGP EGBETOKUN HAILS DEPOWA’S SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR CHILDREN OF FALLEN HEROES

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has lauded the Defense and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) for its groundbreaking initiative to grant full scholarships to children of fallen heroes.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters Abuja, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the IGP gave the commendation while receiving the President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, and her team on a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters.

Mrs. Musa, who led the delegation, explained that the initiative is part of DEPOWA’s vision under the theme “Thank You to Our Troops.” She noted that the scholarship scheme would formally begin with the commissioning of the DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy in September 2026.

According to her, the program is designed not only to cater to children of fallen heroes but also to foster national cohesion by admitting children from neighboring communities.She further applauded the Inspector-General of Police and saluted the sacrifices of police officers in the fight against violent crimes and their contributions to international peacekeeping efforts.

Responding, IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property, maintaining public order, and safeguarding democracy.

He stressed that the Force remains resolute in fulfilling its constitutional mandate while drawing strength from the support of critical stakeholders like DEPOWA and similar associations.
