In furtherance of its non-kinetic approach to restoring peace and promoting community development, the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) on Saturday, 6 September 2025, carried out a series of humanitarian and environmental support activities in Jos.
The event, hosted at Government College Jos by Sector 1 JTF OPEP, featured a tree planting campaign, donation of relief materials to an orphanage home, and distribution of wheelchairs to physically challenged students.
Speaking at the event, the Special Guest of Honour, General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander JTF OPEP, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, reiterated the commitment of the Force not only to safeguarding lives and property but also to advancing the well-being of host communities.
According to him, the tree planting campaign reflects JTF OPEP’s deliberate non-kinetic efforts aimed at winning hearts and minds, promoting healthy living, and mitigating the challenges of deforestation driven by illegal tree felling.
He emphasized that the rebranding of Operation ENDURING PEACE embodies a renewed resolve to pursue both tactical and humanitarian strategies to restore peace, including effective coordination and mapping of ungoverned spaces to deny criminal elements freedom of action.
General Oyinlola urged residents to cooperate with security agencies, stressing the need for collective responsibility in holding enemies of the state accountable.
Earlier, the Commander Sector 1 JTF OPEP, Navy Captain M.A. Fana, thanked the GOC/Commander for his continuous moral and logistical support. He noted that the tree planting initiative was inspired by visible environmental degradation, adding that the campaign is a sustainable non-kinetic intervention aimed at preserving the natural beauty of the environment.
In her vote of thanks, the Plateau State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Mrs. Kachollom Pyam, expressed appreciation on behalf of the State Government. She assured that the donated trees would be nurtured by students while reviving the tradition of tree planting in schools.The well-attended event drew dignitaries including the Plateau State Commissioner for Education, the Commissioner of Police Plateau State, the Provost of the Federal College of Forestry Jos, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
