The Defence Headquarters has officially rebranded Operation Safe Haven to Operation Enduring Peace, signaling a strategic shift towards long-term security and stability in Plateau State and neighboring regions.

In a statement issued by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, explained that the new operation will prioritize inter-agency collaboration, intelligence-driven strategies, and community engagement.

According to him, the initiative will involve the deployment of additional personnel, improved logistics, enhanced operational assets, and a renewed focus on troop welfare to boost effectiveness in the field.

Addressing troops in Jos, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, commended the gallant personnel for their sacrifices and reaffirmed that the Armed Forces are receiving strong support from the Presidency to execute the mission successfully.

General Musa urged troops to redouble their efforts, stressing that the ultimate goal was to “win peace, not just war.

”“It is time to restore enduring peace. The cycle of destruction and displacement must stop. Between now and December, we must decisively combat the menace threatening our communities,” General Musa stated, assuring troops that their dedication and hard work would be duly recognized and rewarded.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General E.F. Oyinlola, described the rebranding as a new phase in security operations.

He noted that while Operation Safe Haven had been a formidable instrument against threats, Operation Enduring Peace would go further by anticipating and neutralizing dangers before they escalate.

The inauguration of Operation Enduring Peace marks the beginning of a new era in proactive security management, with the Armed Forces emphasizing that success requires collaboration from political leaders, traditional rulers, religious authorities, civil society groups, youth leaders, and local communities.

“The Armed Forces remain resolute in their mission to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians,” General Musa declared, adding that adaptability and innovation remain key to confronting evolving threats.
