The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the auspices of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), has intensified its counterterrorism operations in the North East, recording a major breakthrough with the neutralisation of over 35 terrorists in a precision air interdiction mission.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of 23 August 2025, followed an attempted attack on ground troops at Kumshe, near the Nigeria–Cameroon border.
Acting on credible intelligence from multiple sources, the Air Component of OPHK executed successive precision strikes on four identified terrorist assembly areas, effectively neutralising the fighters and disrupting their operational plans.
According to field reports, communication was re-established with ground forces after the strikes, confirming that the situation around Kumshe had been stabilised.
In a statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, described the operation as further proof of the NAF’s unwavering commitment to providing close air support to ground troops while denying terrorists freedom of movement and access to logistics across the North East corridor.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, commended the professionalism and precision displayed by the aircrew.
He reaffirmed that the NAF would continue to sustain aggressive, intelligence-driven air operations aimed at completely degrading terrorist elements and safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty.
