The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Friday received a high-powered delegation of National Assembly members from Katsina State at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
The delegation was led by Senator Abdulazeez Musa Yar’Adua, Chairman, Senate Committee on Army.In a statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the visit provided an opportunity for the lawmakers to commend the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their selfless sacrifice and unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Katsina State and across the country.
The legislators also paid glowing tributes to fallen heroes who laid down their lives in the line of duty, describing their sacrifices as both heroic and invaluable to the nation’s survival.
Briefing the CDS, the delegation highlighted the current security situation in Katsina State and appealed for additional deployment of troops and military assets to tackle emerging threats in the region.
Responding, General Musa expressed appreciation to the lawmakers for their show of solidarity and reassured them of the military’s determination to protect all Nigerians.
He emphasized that the Armed Forces had continued to introduce new strategies and operational tactics to meet evolving security challenges, stressing that the ultimate goal remains restoring peace and stability across the country.
The Defence Chief further assured the delegation of closer collaboration between the military and the National Assembly, noting that sustained partnership is critical to addressing security concerns and protecting citizens.
The visit reflects a shared commitment by both the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the National Assembly to strengthening national security and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.
