AMBASSADOR GABRIEL TANIMU ADUDA BOWS OUT AFTER 22 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, has formally retired from the Federal Civil Service after an illustrious career spanning 22 years, marked by excellence, innovation, and an unwavering dedication to nation-building.

A seasoned diplomat and administrator, Ambassador Aduda’s career cut across various ministries and agencies before culminating in his stewardship at the Ministry of Defence, where he was widely acknowledged for providing purposeful leadership, strengthening institutional processes, and advancing reforms that enhanced efficiency within the system.

During his time in the Federal Civil Service, Ambassador Aduda built a reputation as a bridge-builder and reform-driven leader whose approach combined professionalism with patriotism.

Colleagues describe him as a visionary public servant who constantly sought innovative solutions to complex governance challenges while keeping the interest of Nigeria at heart.

In a farewell message to staff, conveyed in a statement issued by Patience Ituke, Principal Superintendent of Press for the Director of Information and Public Relations, Ambassador Aduda expressed deep gratitude to Almighty God for His guidance throughout his career and to his colleagues for their unflinching support over the years.

He described his journey in public service as both “an honour and a privilege,” noting that his greatest fulfillment was the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to nation-building at different levels.

He urged serving officers of the Ministry of Defence and the wider Civil Service to remain resolute in the pursuit of excellence, stressing that while their responsibilities are demanding, they equally present opportunities to shape Nigeria’s future.

He further admonished them to uphold the ideals of teamwork, integrity, and patriotism, which he identified as the true hallmarks of effective public service.

Ambassador Aduda further charged his colleagues to serve the nation in the fear of God, reminding them of the eternal principle that “whatever we sow, we shall surely reap.”He extended warm regards to all staff of the Ministry of Defence and assured them of his continued support for the cause of national development even in retirement.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ambassador Aduda leaves behind a legacy of mentorship. Many younger officers in the Civil Service recall his emphasis on discipline, innovation, and service before self.

His leadership style, which encouraged openness and collaboration, made him a respected figure both within and outside the Ministry of Defence.

Before his official exit, Ambassador Aduda handed over the affairs of the Ministry to Dr. S.M. Attah, Director of the Army Affairs Department, who now assumes office as the Acting Permanent Secretary.The symbolic handover was a moment of continuity, with Aduda urging his successor and the staff to remain united in advancing the mission of the Ministry of Defence.

As he bows out of active service, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda carries with him the respect and admiration of colleagues, subordinates, and stakeholders across the defence and civil service community.
