NIGERIAN ARMY ANNOUNCES MAJOR SENIOR OFFICERS’ POSTINGS TO BOLSTER OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS

In a decisive move to strengthen leadership and reposition the Nigerian Army (NA) for enhanced operational efficiency, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the posting and appointment of senior officers into key command, instructional, and staff positions across formations and units nationwide.

The sweeping redeployment, announced in a statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, affects several Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters (AHQ), two General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, and Brigade Commanders, among others.

Among those newly appointed are Major General A.A. Adeyinka, who moves from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics (Army); Major General A.A. Adekeye, redeployed from the Department of Standard and Evaluation to the Department of Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management (Army); and Major General T.B. Ugiagbe, who takes over as Chief of Standard and Evaluation after being moved from the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps.

Also affected is Major General A.A. Idris, who has been appointed Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), while Major General M.O. Erebulu now assumes duty as Provost Marshal (Army).

In the area of corps and specialised appointments, Major General E.A. Anaryu has been appointed Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, while Major General S.A. Akesode has been redeployed from the Office of the National Security Adviser to head the African Union Verification Mission in Ethiopia’s Tigray Region. Major General J.E. Osifo takes charge as Director General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.

The appointments also extend to field commands, with Major General A.S.M. Wase now General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division/Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and Major General C.R. Nnebeife as GOC 2 Division/Sector 3 JTF under the same operation.

To further sharpen the Army’s training institutions, Major General M.O. Ihanuwaze has been appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration, Major General K.O. Osemwegie is now Commandant of the Army Signal School, Major General A.J. Aliyu assumes office as Commandant of the Nigerian Army Ordnance School, while Major General A.C. Adetoba has been posted to the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management as Commandant.At the brigade level, Brigadier General M. Jimoh has been appointed Commander, 1 Brigade; Brigadier General N.E. Okoloagu takes over 2 Brigade; while Brigadier General A.A. Bello assumes command of 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 JTF South South Operation DELTA SAFE.

While congratulating the newly appointed officers, the Chief of Army Staff charged them to redouble their commitment and zeal in sustaining ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security.

He also reaffirmed that the welfare of troops remains at the core of his command philosophy, stressing that motivated soldiers remain the bedrock of operational success.
