The Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, has dismissed online reports alleging that he lost his polling unit during the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election.
In a statement signed by his Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mati Ali, the Minister clarified that his polling unit is Babura Kofar Arewa Primary School, Polling Unit 002 (PU 002), where he personally cast his vote.
According to the official result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 188 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 164 votes, giving the APC a clear victory at PU 002.
The statement stressed that contrary to the misleading reports that misidentified the polling unit as PU 001 and claimed the Minister lost, the verified INEC figures confirmed APC’s win.
The Defence Minister’s office therefore urged members of the public, party supporters, and the media to disregard the false claims and rely only on authentic results as declared by INEC.
