The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has commissioned the Nigerian Army Post Exchange (NAPEX) Warehouse at the 7 Division Nigerian Army Annex in Maiduguri, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance troop welfare and morale in the North East theatre of operations.

According to a statement by the OPHK spokesperson, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, the newly inaugurated facility represents a strategic addition to the Army’s welfare infrastructure, designed to ease the provision of daily necessities and improve the living standards of personnel engaged in counter-insurgency operations.

The warehouse is expected to serve as a dependable hub for distributing quality rations and basic supplies across various formations and units within the theatre.

The facility is also intended to relieve commanders of the logistical stress of sourcing essentials, thereby enabling greater focus on operational effectiveness.

The commissioning underscores the Nigerian Army’s alignment with the welfare-focused philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, aimed at sustaining a well-motivated and combat-ready force capable of delivering on constitutional responsibilities in joint and multi-agency environments.

The event also featured remarks from the Managing Director of NAPEX, Brigadier General Jibrin Adams, who explained that NAPEX is a vital welfare platform of the Nigerian Army operating 41 retail outlets nationwide.

The newly commissioned warehouse will be integrated with mini food processing plants to supply NAPEX Super Stores with locally produced food items.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to economic empowerment within the barracks, particularly by engaging military families especially women in productive ventures that support the local “Khaki Economy.
