The Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting families of fallen military personnel as he received Mr. Hassan Braimah, brother of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.
Brigadier General Braimah, a distinguished Infantry officer of the Nigerian Army, died in the line of duty at Benisheikh on April 9, 2026, while serving as Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade. He was buried with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri on April 15, 2026, alongside seven other military personnel who also lost their lives in active service.
In a statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Defence, Leah Babatunde, Mr. Hassan Braimah described his late brother as a committed and patriotic officer who dedicated his life to the service of the nation. He expressed pride in the sacrifices made by the late senior officer and assured the Minister of the family’s determination to continue supporting the loved ones he left behind.
Responding, the Minister extended the condolences of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the Braimah family, stressing that the Ministry remains committed to the welfare of families of fallen heroes through its open-door policy and support initiatives.
“The Armed Forces will never abandon the families of those who lay down their lives for this country. We remain committed to providing assistance, care, and direct access to the Ministry whenever needed,” General Musa stated.
The visit, according to the statement, highlighted the nation’s enduring appreciation for the sacrifices of military personnel and reinforced the Ministry’s resolve to preserve their legacy through sustained support for their families.
