The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to maintaining high standards of aircraft safety and operational excellence.

Air Marshal Aneke made this known on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, while declaring open a two-day Airworthiness Seminar organised by the Aircraft Engineering Branch at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force in Abuja.

Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, AY Abdullahi, the Air Chief stressed that strict adherence to airworthiness standards remains critical to ensuring the safety, reliability, and effectiveness of NAF operations, particularly in ongoing counter-terrorism and internal security missions across the country.

He noted that the seminar aligns with his command philosophy of transforming the NAF into a more professional, capable, and mission-ready force through continuous training, innovation, and discipline. According to him, the institutionalisation of stringent maintenance procedures and sustained capacity development will continue to drive operational efficiency and combat readiness.

The seminar brought together senior engineering officers, maintenance commanders, logistics experts, and other aviation stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for improving aircraft safety, fleet sustainability, and overall operational performance.

A key highlight of the event was a technical presentation by Clementi Giorgio, Executive Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of the International Test Pilot School. He shared global best practices on flight test safety, airworthiness certification, and emerging technologies in aircraft maintenance.

The Nigerian Air Force says the seminar is expected to strengthen its maintenance culture and enhance readiness to meet evolving air power demands in defence of the nation.
