Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered ₦8 million ransom during a coordinated operation in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation, carried out by troops deployed in Sector 9 Shendam on Saturday, 25 April 2026, followed the abduction of a female victim from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area on 19 April.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the breakthrough was achieved through sustained intelligence gathering and the interrogation of an arrested suspect who confessed to the crime.

The suspect reportedly led troops to the victim’s location at the Padam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, where she was successfully rescued.

The operation also led to the recovery of the ₦8 million ransom earlier paid by the victim’s family to secure her release. The money has since been returned to the family.

Following her rescue, the victim was taken to the General Hospital in Shendam for medical examination and was later reunited with her family after being certified to be in stable condition.

Captain Oteh added that troops have intensified follow-up operations in Qua’an Pan and Shendam Local Government Areas to track down and apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate.

Operation ENDURING PEACE commended members of the public for their cooperation and urged citizens to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the area.
