Nigerian Army’s 3 Division Graduates Troops and Launches Drivers Training in Jos

In a bid to strengthen operational effectiveness and combat readiness, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, has graduated participants of Exercise Shining Star Course 9/2026.

The graduation ceremony took place on 6 March 2026 at the 3 Division Auditorium, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.


In a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 3 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya, the GOC, who was represented by the Chief of Staff Headquarters 3 Division, Brigadier General Aminu Gumel, explained that the course was organised to refresh and sharpen the professional skills of soldiers.

He noted that the training was designed to promote a battle-focused and responsive force capable of effectively carrying out its constitutional responsibilities in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff.

The GOC further emphasised the importance of continuous training in improving troops’ professionalism and operational proficiency, urging the graduates to put the knowledge gained into practice while also committing to self-development and continuous learning.

In a related development aimed at improving operational mobility and safety, Major General Oyinlola also inaugurated the Drivers Basic Course 1/2026 at the 3 Division Auditorium.

Delivering the inaugural address on behalf of the GOC, the Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, Colonel Samuel Bemu, said the training programme was designed to equip soldiers with practical driving skills and basic vehicle maintenance knowledge essential for effective operations within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.

He added that continuous training remains a critical component of professional military development and would help produce competent drivers capable of operating military vehicles efficiently in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy.

Colonel Bemu also urged the participants to maintain discipline, remain enthusiastic about learning and work diligently throughout the course to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills.

Major General Oyinlola also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for his commitment to training and capacity development within the Nigerian Army, describing it as one of the most effective forms of welfare for troops.

The graduation and inauguration ceremonies were attended by formation and unit commanders, senior officers and staff officers from the Division Headquarters and affiliated formations, as well as representatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Vehicle Inspection Office.
