Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks on military locations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana and Mainok in Borno State.
The attacks, which occurred between about 10:30 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., were foiled by troops who maintained strong defensive positions despite the intensity of the assaults.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the troops mounted a swift and coordinated response to the attacks. Reinforcement teams drawn from Sectors 1 and 2 carried out simultaneous flanking manoeuvres, forcing the terrorists to retreat in disarray after suffering heavy casualties.

The statement added that although some parts of the defensive perimeter were briefly breached during the clashes, troops quickly counter-attacked and regained full control of their positions. Several insurgent fighters, including key commanders known as Amirs, were neutralised during the fierce exchange of gunfire, while others were eliminated during the follow-up counter-offensive.
Some structures in the affected locations were damaged during the firefight, but all bases remain under the control of the troops.
Air support from the Air Component of the operation also played a critical role as multiple precision air strikes were launched overnight on fleeing terrorists and identified hostile positions. The strikes reportedly neutralised several insurgents and further weakened the terrorists’ fighting capability, while ground troops have continued exploitation operations to recover bodies, weapons and other equipment.
However, the military confirmed that some soldiers paid the supreme price during the engagements, including an officer who died while leading his troops at the frontline.
The statement noted that the sacrifice of the fallen soldiers reflects the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to protecting the country and its citizens, stressing that the failed attacks highlight the growing desperation of terrorist groups under sustained military pressure across the theatre of operation.
