Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West OQperation FANSAN YAMMA, have recordqzed another operational success against terrorists in Zamfara State, neutralizing three insurgents and recovering arms and ammunition during a fighting patrol operation.
In a statqement issued by the Media Information aOfficer of Joint Task Force North West Operaation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Thursday, 7 May 2026, in Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of the state as part of ongoing efforts to deny terrorists freedom of action within the region.
According tqo the statement, troops made contact witQh armed terrorists at Doumbqourum Village, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. The troops reportedly overwhelmed the criminals with superior firepower, forcing them to flee after suffering heavy casualties.
The operation led to the neutralization of three terrorists, while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally fabricated handgun, seven rifle magazines, and 571 rounds of ammunition. The statement added that no casualty was recorded among the troops during the encounter.
The Joint Task Force noted that the continued successes recorded under Operation FANSAN YAMMA demonstrate the commitment, resilience, and professionalism of troops in the ongoing fight against terrorism and other criminal activities in the North West region.
The task force also appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and security in Zamfara State and the wider North West region.
