— Strengthening Synergy for National Security and Territorial Integrity —
The Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, on Tuesday, 28th October 2025, received in audience the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs during their maiden courtesy visit to his office at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Ship House, Abuja.
According to a statement by the Personal Assistant (Media and Publicity) to the Honourable Minister, Mati Ali, the high-powered delegation comprised the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General O.O. Oluyede; the Chief of Army Staff, Major General W. Shaibu; the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke.
The meeting, which marked the first official engagement between the Minister and the new Service Chiefs, provided a platform for renewed collaboration and strategic alignment in pursuit of the nation’s defence objectives. The Minister commended the officers for their dedication, discipline, and professional excellence, describing their appointments as a testament to the confidence reposed in them by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Badaru emphasized that the new era calls for unity of purpose, seamless inter-service cooperation, and decisive leadership to tackle emerging security challenges across the country. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to providing the Armed Forces with the policy direction, institutional support, and resources necessary to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
The Minister further highlighted the importance of synergy between the military and other security agencies, noting that collective effort remains the most potent weapon in defending the nation’s sovereignty, promoting internal stability, and safeguarding the welfare of all Nigerians.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to deepen cooperation, uphold professionalism, and pursue the strategic defence mandate of the Tinubu administration with renewed vigor and patriotism.
