Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, mni, has approved the appointment of Colonel Yahaya Gambo (Rtd) as the new Coordinator of the Borno State Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The announcement, contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, explained that the creation of the Coordinator’s office is intended to further enhance the operational efficiency, discipline, and strategic direction of the CJTF in order to sustain the momentum in the fight against insurgency and consolidate the relative peace currently enjoyed across the state.
Colonel Gambo, a retired senior officer of the Nigerian Army, hails from Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State. He brings with him a wealth of experience in security and safety management, underpinned by a distinguished military career and subsequent engagements in the private security sector.
Throughout his service, he acquired extensive expertise in risk management, conflict resolution, disaster management, and psychological first aid. His professional credentials include several advanced military and security certifications covering intelligence operations, tactical deployments, and executive management.
Notably, he served as Chief of Staff at the Intelligence Support Command, Lagos, where he contributed to operational planning and strategic intelligence coordination.Since 2018, Colonel Gambo has served as Chief Security Officer at Dangote Fertiliser Limited, where he developed and implemented comprehensive security frameworks, designed risk mitigation strategies, and established robust response protocols to protect personnel, facilities, and critical infrastructure.
According to the statement, the Coordinator will function under the supervision of the Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security, working in close synergy with security agencies and community-based vigilante groups to strengthen grassroots intelligence gathering, rapid response mechanisms, and coordinated operations against criminal elements.
Governor Zulum expressed confidence that Colonel Gambo’s appointment will bolster the capacity of the CJTF to respond to emerging threats, support ongoing counter-insurgency operations, and promote lasting stability in the state.
