Troops of the 82 Division Garrison under Operation EASTERN SANITY have rescued 12 kidnapped victims in Ette Community, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State following a swift response to a distress call on Friday, March 6, 2026.
The operation was launched after security forces received information about the abduction of several residents by suspected kidnappers in the community.Acting promptly, troops mobilised in collaboration with police operatives, Forest Guards, and members of the Neighbourhood Watch.
The joint team advanced to the suspected hideout where the victims were believed to have been taken and immediately commenced aggressive search and fighting patrols across the general area to track down the criminals.Overwhelmed by the rapid response and superior combat readiness of the troops, the kidnappers abandoned the victims and fled the scene. The troops swiftly secured the area and pursued the fleeing suspects.
During the exploitation of the location, all 12 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unharmed. Troops also arrested two suspects linked to the kidnapping, who are currently being interrogated to assist security agencies in tracking down other members of the gang.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation EASTERN SANITY have intensified aggressive patrols and surveillance across the area to ensure public safety.
The successful rescue underscores the sustained operational pressure by security forces and their commitment to protecting lives and property while restoring security and public confidence across communities in the region.
