TROOPS RAID SUSPECTED GUNRUNNERS’ HIDEOUT IN PLATEAU, RECOVER ARMS AND AMMUNITION

Troops of Sector 2 (Sub-Sector 2) under the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), Bokkos, have conducted a successful raid on a suspected gunrunners’ hideout in Fashoron Village, Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The operation, carried out on 13 November 2025, was part of intensified efforts to disrupt the activities of armed criminals across the Joint Operations Area (JOA). The suspects, however, fled the scene before the arrival of the troops.

In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, a thorough search of the location led to the recovery of significant arms and ammunition. Items recovered include one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one Sub-Machine Gun (SMG), two Dane guns, 42 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, 84 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and twenty cartridges. Troops also seized six mobile phones and ₦330,000 in cash.

All recovered items are currently in custody, while an active pursuit is underway to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE reiterated its commitment to eliminating criminal networks and curbing the proliferation of illicit weapons, pledging to sustain legitimate measures to secure communities within the JOA.
