Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have foiled multiple terrorist attacks and intensified operations against insurgent logistics networks, recording major successes across the theatre between March 28 and 30, 2026.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, who said troops deployed in Damboa thwarted a planned attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists after detecting their movement through surveillance systems.

The troops engaged the insurgents, forcing them to retreat in disarray, while follow-up operations confirmed their withdrawal. Similarly, troops repelled attempted attacks on farmers and communities in Gwoza and Askira Uba Local Government Areas of Borno State, pushing the insurgents towards the Mandara Mountains.

The statement further revealed that troops uncovered and safely detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted along the Goniri–Ngamdu axis, aimed at targeting both troops and commuters. Items recovered at the scene, including rail tracks used to channel vehicles into a killing zone, highlighted ongoing terrorist efforts to disrupt movement along critical routes.

In efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics networks, troops arrested two suspected collaborators at Molai under suspicious circumstances. In Maiduguri, security operatives intercepted vehicles conveying large quantities of suspected terrorist supplies along the Maiduguri–Mafa road.

The items, equivalent to two truckloads, were concealed in sacks and included medical drugs, motorcycle tubes and tyres, mosquito nets, mats, air filter cylinders and detergents. Preliminary investigations indicated that the consignments were being transported without clearance towards Kusuri, a border community near Chad. The vehicles, drivers and items have since been handed over for further investigation.

In a related development, troops in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force arrested a suspected logistics supplier, identified as Mohammed Adamu, aged 26, at Muna Garage. Recovered items included 25 litres of engine oil, the sum of six hundred and twenty-four thousand, nine hundred naira, a mobile phone, power bank, national identity card and ATM cards.

Investigations suggest he had been supplying logistics, including motorcycle parts, to terrorists over a prolonged period.

Also, troops in Gubio, working with intelligence operatives and CJTF, conducted targeted operations leading to the arrest of 13 suspected logistics suppliers and collaborators, while two additional suspects apprehended in the area reportedly confessed to long-term involvement in supporting terrorist activities.

In another operation, a suspected member of the JAS/ISWAP terrorist group, identified as Abubakar Ali, also known as “Saina,” was arrested at Kilo Papa checkpoint while attempting to enter Maiduguri. Preliminary interrogation indicated that he was on a reconnaissance mission. He has been handed over to appropriate authorities for further investigation. Troops also apprehended a suspected kidnapper in the Azir area of Damboa Local Government Area.

Furthermore, clearance and cordon-and-search operations conducted in Wulgo Junction, Gamboru Motor Park and surrounding areas led to the recovery of 450 wraps of suspected marijuana and other illicit substances, while suspected drug peddlers fled on sighting the troops.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their resilience, vigilance and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum in ongoing operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and enhance security and economic stability in the North East region.
