Troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Babana, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, have recorded another operational success in the ongoing fight against banditry.
According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, Captain Stephen Nwankwo, the incident occurred at about 2:50 a.m. on Thursday, 28 August 2025, when vigilant troops engaged armed bandits attempting to infiltrate the Babana axis.
The fierce exchange of fire forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, while troops, during a follow-up operation along their withdrawal route, neutralised two bandits on the outskirts of Babana town.
