Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have continued to record impressive gains in the fight against terrorism in the North East, neutralizing ten insurgents and recovering a large cache of weapons and equipment during a fierce night ambush along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.
The latest success comes shortly after the neutralization of over fifty terrorists in an earlier encounter at Katarko axis, further demonstrating the sustained momentum of military operations in the region.
According to a statement issued in Maiduguri by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the operation was carried out by troops of Sector 1 from 24 Task Force Brigade. The troops successfully foiled an attempted infiltration into Gamboru Ngala by terrorists from the Flatari axis.
The statement explained that after suffering heavy casualties, the fleeing insurgents diverted towards Dikwa but were again intercepted in a well-coordinated ambush along the Dikwa–Marte road, leading to another intense engagement that resulted in the neutralization of ten terrorists.
“At approximately 23:50 hours on 25 October 2025, while manning a pre-established ambush position, the troops identified and engaged the hostile elements with heavy and accurate suppressive fire, forcing them to retreat in disarray,” the statement read.
At daybreak, the troops conducted a systematic clearance of the area, which confirmed the neutralization of ten insurgents. A detailed search of the vicinity also led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and equipment.
Recovered items include:
- Five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, three locally made dane guns, and two fabricated pistols.
- Five AK-47 magazines loaded with 7.62mm rounds, a large quantity of 7.62x54mm linked ammunition, and boxes of cartridges.
- Two motorcycles, two bicycles, and one radio set.
- Personal items such as a dane gun barrel, water flask, raincoat, blanket, and assorted charms.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry, vigilance, and tactical precision during the operation. It reaffirmed that the success of the ambush underscores the effectiveness of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts and the Nigerian military’s determination to sustain offensive operations, protect civilians, and restore lasting peace and stability in the North East.
