Troops of 3 Division and Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation ENDURING PEACE have neutralised an armed militia in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State following a failed attempt to escape during an operation.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the incident followed the arrest of the militia on 4 September 2025 at Kaskra in Barkin Ladi. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of one AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in multiple criminal activities within the Barkin Ladi general area and volunteered to lead troops to the hideout of his cohorts to recover more weapons.Consequently, on 5 September 2025, troops launched a follow-up operation to the identified hideout.
However, in the course of the search, the militia made a desperate attempt to snatch the rifle of a soldier in order to escape. The troops acted swiftly, neutralising him in the process. His remains have since been deposited in the morgue.
The statement reaffirmed that troops of 3 Division/JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE remain resolute in their operations and will not relent until the Joint Operations Area is completely rid of armed criminals and secured for peace-loving citizens.
