In a powerful display of unity and compassion beyond the pitch, players of Nigeria’s Super Falcons paid a heartfelt visit to South Africa’s Gabriela Salgado, who is currently receiving treatment for a serious injury sustained during the WAFCON semi-final clash in Casablanca.
Salgado, a key winger for Banyana Banyana, suffered a mid-shaft fracture of her left leg in the course of the fiercely contested encounter against Nigeria an injury that has prematurely ended her season.
Following the match, select members of the Super Falcons made their way to the Mohamed VI Hospital to show support for their fellow athlete.
Leading the delegation was team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, accompanied by star goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Ashleigh Plumptre, forward Ifeoma Onumonu, and fan-favourite Michelle Alozie. Together, they presented Salgado with a signed Super Falcons jersey a warm gesture symbolizing empathy, strength, and solidarity.
The visit, widely praised across social media and the global football community, stands as a shining reminder that the spirit of the game transcends rivalry. It reinforces the Super Falcons’ image not just as champions on the field, but also as ambassadors of grace and humanity off it.
