Strategic Cooperation: WMORTC, NAFRC Strengthen Institutional Ties

The Director of the World Meteorological Organization Regional Training Centre (WMORTC), Professor Peter Ojugo, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant of the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, at the Centre’s headquarters in Abuja, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration.

The delegation, led by the Head of Training School, Mr. Aremu A.O., who represented the Director, explained that the visit was designed to foster mutual cooperation between both institutions. He noted that the proposed areas of partnership include research development, professional training, and capacity building for personnel.

Mr. Aremu stressed that strategic partnerships remain critical to advancing meteorological education and professional excellence. He added that the collaboration would encourage knowledge exchange through joint training programmes and technical cooperation, ultimately enhancing the quality of human resource development.

In his response, the Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, warmly received the delegation and commended WMORTC for its sustained contributions to meteorological research and global scientific advancement. He acknowledged the growing relevance of meteorology in contemporary national development efforts.

Air Vice Marshal Ilo further highlighted the importance of meteorological services in national planning, environmental sustainability, disaster risk reduction, and security operations.

He reaffirmed the Centre’s readiness to collaborate with credible institutions such as WMORTC to strengthen its training programmes and expand opportunities for military personnel transitioning to civilian life.
