The visit, which formed part of the GOC’s first official engagements since assuming command, followed the recent return of residents who had earlier fled the community due to threats from bandits.

Addressing the people of Tidibale, Major General Koughna assured them of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to protect lives and property and to restore normalcy, particularly to enable residents to resume farming and other daily activities without fear.

He disclosed that troops have been permanently deployed to Tidibale to maintain a strong security presence and remain on high alert to respond swiftly to any emerging threats or emergencies. The GOC emphasized that no part of the community would be allowed to fall under the control of bandit groups.

Major General Koughna also urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, noting that sustained peace and security can only be achieved through effective collaboration between the military and local communities.

In his remarks, the Sarkin Arewa of Tidibale Community, Alhaji Ibrahim, speaking on behalf of the residents, expressed profound appreciation to the GOC for the timely visit amid prevailing security challenges. He said the visit had renewed the community’s hope and confidence, commending the Nigerian Army for its efforts in ensuring their safe return and restoring normal life. He further expressed confidence in the GOC’s commitment to achieving lasting peace and stability in the area.

Earlier, upon his arrival at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Isa, the GOC received a comprehensive operational briefing from the Commanding Officer, 26 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Nasiru Mustapha. The briefing provided an overview of the prevailing security situation and ongoing military operations within the area of responsibility.

The Nigerian Army has reiterated its resolve to continue working closely with host communities and other stakeholders to ensure enduring peace and security across the North West region.
