In a decisive and well-coordinated operation, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully rescued seven kidnapped victims in Taraba State.

The victims were abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari road on 3 August 2025.

According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the daring search and rescue mission was carried out over two days—Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 August 2025.

During the operation, the troops engaged the kidnappers, who, unable to withstand the Nigerian Army’s superior firepower and sustained pressure, fled their hideouts, abandoning the captives. On 5 August, four victims were safely recovered from Chinkai Forest. The following day, three additional victims—all females—were rescued in the Owedi community, Wukari Local Government Area.

The successful rescue of all seven victims without casualties underscores the Nigerian Army’s professionalism, tactical expertise, and commitment to protecting citizens and eradicating criminal elements in Taraba State.

Commending the troops for their courage and swift response, the Commander 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, described the operation as a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and criminality in the region.

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s resolve to sustain aggressive operations across Taraba State to ensure the safety of lives and property.
