President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the full implementation of Nigeria’s national space policy and programme as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s technological and developmental capacity.
The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, stated this while chairing the first meeting of the National Space Council held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Delivering the President’s remarks at the meeting, the Vice President said the administration remains committed to the realisation of the nation’s space policy as outlined in the revised 25-year roadmap for space development.
He also disclosed that the President had directed the immediate release of approved funds for the maintenance of Nigeria’s space assets in order to ensure their continued functionality and contribution to national development.
Vice President Shettima further announced that the President had approved the transmission of the cost of implementing the revised 25-year roadmap of the national space policy to the Federal Executive Council for consideration and ratification.
