PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS NEW SERVICE CHIEFS TO STRENGTHEN NATIONAL SECURITY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved major changes in the leadership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, aimed at further strengthening the nation’s security architecture.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the President announced the appointment of General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.

Other appointments include Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as the Chief of Naval Staff. The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.

President Tinubu, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the other former Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.

He further charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by upholding the highest standards of professionalism, vigilance, and unity that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

All appointments take immediate effect.
