Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics and financing networks in the North East, sustaining pressure on insurgent elements through coordinated strangulation operations that recently led to the recovery of ₦37 million suspected to be linked to terrorist financing.
The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), disclosed that the renewed offensive posture follows successful defensive engagements in Pulka and Madara-Girau.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops have transitioned into deliberate operations designed to cripple terrorist supply chains, restrict their mobility and systematically dismantle their financial and logistical architecture across the theatre.
On 16 February 2026, troops of Sector 1, working in close collaboration with local Vigilante Forces, executed a well-coordinated night ambush along a known terrorist crossing route frequently used by ISWAP elements infiltrating from the Cameroon axis into Nigerian territory. The terrorists, reportedly unaware of the concealed tactical deployment of troops, ran into effective enfilade fire, forcing them to retreat in disarray.
Following the engagement, troops conducted exploitation operations within the contact area, leading to the recovery of a sizeable cache of critical logistics supplies believed to be destined for terrorist resupply missions.
Military authorities assessed that the interception would significantly disrupt the terrorists’ sustainment capability and operational reach within the area. Troops have since maintained firm control of the general area while continuing follow-up exploitation to consolidate operational gains.
In a separate but related operation, troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base Chabbal Checkpoint intercepted a suspicious vehicle conveying five occupants. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately Thirty-Seven Million Naira (₦37,000,000.00) carefully concealed in bags, alongside several mobile phones suspected to be linked to terrorist financing and coordination activities. The suspects are currently undergoing preliminary investigation.
Military authorities described the seizure as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle financial conduits believed to support terrorist logistics and operational planning within the theatre of operations.
The coordinated actions, according to the statement, reflect OPHK’s proactive strategy of tightening the noose on terrorist networks by simultaneously targeting their movement corridors and financial enablers. The sustained pressure across key transit routes and support systems is part of a deliberate campaign to weaken insurgent elements from within and limit their ability to regenerate combat power.
The Military High Command commended the vigilance, professionalism and resilience of the troops and collaborating security agencies, noting that morale and fighting efficiency remain high. Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to frustrating terrorist ambitions and restoring enduring peace and economic stability across the North East region.
