NIGERIAN NAVY SHIPS SHIRORO AND SHERE ARRIVE ALSCON JETTY TO BOOST MARITIME SECURITY

In a move aimed at strengthening maritime security operations in the Gulf of Guinea and within the operational jurisdiction of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Jubilee, two Nigerian Navy ships NNS Shiroro and NNS Shere on Sunday, 3rd August 2025, berthed at the Aluminum Smelter Company (ALSCON) Jetty, located in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The ships arrived at about 1345 hours and were received by personnel of NNS Jubilee under the coordination of the Executive Officer, Captain Abiodun Ayodeji Akinsanmi.

Commanding Officer of NNS Shere, Commander Christopher Michael Egaikhide, and his counterpart, Commanding Officer of NNS Shiroro, Lieutenant Emmanuel Linus Egbe, led their respective ship companies during the berthing exercise, which was executed with a high level of naval professionalism and operational discipline.

Their arrival is expected to enhance ongoing security operations and patrol efforts within the area, particularly as part of the Nigerian Navy’s broader mission to combat illegal maritime activities, including piracy, oil theft, and smuggling.

Naval personnel from NNS Jubilee provided both security coverage and logistical support to facilitate a seamless berthing process at the jetty. The Nigerian Navy reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, security, and freedom of navigation across Nigeria’s maritime environment.
