NIGERIAN MILITARY SCHOOL HOLDS 67TH PASSING OUT PARADE, COAS URGES GRADUATES TO EMBRACE DISCIPLINE, RESILIENCE, AND PATRIOTISM

The Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria, on Saturday, 9 August 2025, held its 67th Passing Out Parade in grand style, with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, charging the graduating boys to uphold discipline, resilience, and patriotism as guiding principles in their future endeavours.

Represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Major General Mayirenso Saraso, the COAS, who was the Special Guest of Honour, congratulated the graduating students on successfully completing their six-year intensive academic and military training. He described their accomplishment as a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to the values of duty, discipline, and national service.

“You have faced and conquered both physical and mental challenges that demanded your utmost determination. You have learned the true meaning of teamwork, selflessness, and integrity,” General Oluyede stated. “These formative experiences have prepared you to become soldiers, guardians of our sovereignty, defenders of our democracy, and symbols of national pride.”

Reiterating his Command Philosophy anchored on readiness, operational effectiveness, sound administration, and collaboration with stakeholders the COAS underscored the importance of the “Soldier First” concept, which prioritizes the welfare, morale, and professional growth of personnel. He further noted that the Nigerian Army continues to invest heavily in improving living conditions, welfare schemes, and career development opportunities for its officers and soldiers.

The celebration also featured the commissioning of several infrastructural projects, including the remodelled Calabar Company, the NMS House, and the Principal Staff Officers’ (PSOs) House. The event concluded with a ceremonial group photograph of dignitaries, marking yet another milestone in the proud history of the Nigerian Military School.
