In a resolute move to uphold combat readiness and physical excellence, the Nigerian Army has flagged off the second edition of its 2025 Physical Efficiency Test (PET) at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.
The intensive assessment, which commenced on Monday, August 4, 2025, brings together troops from departments, formations, and units nationwide for a two-phase fitness evaluation aimed at reinforcing operational capability and endurance.
Phase One, running from August 4 to 14, is focused on core physical performance benchmarks. Participants are being tested through a 3.2-kilometre endurance run, push-up routines, sit-up drills, and beam heaving all crafted to evaluate cardiovascular strength, upper body power, abdominal endurance, and combat agility.
Phase Two, set for August 15, will feature a grueling 15-kilometre trek, simulating field conditions to challenge both the physical and mental resilience of soldiers.
The exercises kick off daily at 0600hrs under strict supervision to ensure fairness, standardization, and integrity in the assessment process.
In a show of command presence and motivation, the Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, Major General Maxwell Dangana, was on ground to encourage participants.
He reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering commitment to discipline, physical preparedness, and operational excellence across all ranks.
The Physical Efficiency Test is an annual mandatory exercise that not only tests individual and collective fitness but also reaffirms the Nigerian Army’s unyielding dedication to building a force that is mentally alert, physically fit, and mission-ready.
