The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, has restated the Division’s resolve to strengthen collaboration with UNICEF in promoting child protection and enhancing humanitarian emergency response across its area of responsibility.
According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the assurance was given during a courtesy visit by UNICEF Nigeria Country Representative, Mr. Charles Lolika, to the Division’s Headquarters.

Speaking on behalf of the GOC, the Chief of Staff Headquarters 8 Division, Brigadier General Abubakar Suru, pledged the Division’s continuous support for UNICEF’s humanitarian programmes. He stressed that the Army will continue to provide safe access, security, and operational support to enable UNICEF carry out its life-saving activities effectively.
In his remarks, Mr. Lolika appreciated the Nigerian Army for its longstanding support, describing it as crucial to UNICEF’s ability to reach vulnerable children in conflict-affected communities. He noted that the renewed partnership will focus on improving data collection for informed interventions, ensuring secure environments for humanitarian personnel, and tackling urgent challenges such as malnutrition and other child-related crises.
The visit highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to safeguarding the welfare of children and delivering timely, coordinated assistance to communities in need.
